GRANTS
 
Eligible schools within the Diocese of Kansas City-St. Joseph may request a grant application by contacting the F.I.R.E. office at fire@diocesekcsj.org or by calling (816) 756-1850. Parents of children with special needs at the interested parish school must be actively involved in the F.I.R.E. Parent Group in order for the school to be considered eligible for grant consideration. For more information on the F.I.R.E. Parent Group, please refer to “Inquiries” on the Home Page. Grant application deadline for the 2008-09 school year is January 25, 2008.
 
GRANT ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
The following criteria must be satisfied for a school to be eligible for a grant:
 
1.) The applicant is a diocesan school within the boundaries of the Diocese of Kansas City-St. Joseph.
2.) The school is accepting student(s) who would not be able to attend without additional educational support.
3.) The school has a degreed Special Education teacher on staff or the Diocesan School Office must validate the existence of appropriate educational support for the student(s).
4.) Commitment of principal and pastor to inclusive education.
5.) Commitment of parents (whose child directly benefits from services funded by F.I.R.E. grants) to F.I.R.E. fundraising.
• attend monthly Parent Group meetings
• submit names of family, friends and contacts to F.I.R.E. data base for solicitation of gifts
• support and attend all fundraising events (including Bonfire and the F.I.R.E. golf tournament)
